Trichy Tours

Tiruchirapally or Trichy is the the fourth largest city of Tamil Nadu. It is situated on the banks of river Cauvery. Rockfort Temple is the most prominent landmark of the city. The industrial town is known for the trade of handloom clothes, diamonds, cigars, toys and bangles. It was citadel of early Chola rulers and later on fell to Pallavas and then to Pandyas. It got prominence under the rule of Nayaks in 17th century, when it got prosperity which continues even till today.

Three main festivals are celebrated in Trichy by locals, which are : Samayapuram Mariamman Festival, Jallikattu and Allur Jallathiru Vizha. Trichy has given some Tamil scholars to the country who have enriched Tamil literature by their priceless contribution. The city has an airport which connects it with Chennai, Sharjah, Kuwait, Colombo and other major cities of India. Southern Railways connects it with several cities like Chennai, Thanjavur, Chidambaram, Tuticorin, Quilon, Rameshwarm, Mysore, Kochi, Mangalore, Kanyakumari etc.

Our 3 days long Tour itinerary is provided below for your reference :

Day 01: Arrival at Trichy

You will be welcomed by us on arrival at Trichy airport and driven to your hotel accommodation in the city, which will take around 20 minutes only. Since it would be evening, you will be allowed to spend the rest of the day as per your convenience. Our Trichy tours will start in the morning of the next day.

Day 02: Tourist Places in Trichy

We will start our tour with a visit to the most prominent landmark of Trichy, ie 83 m high Rock Fort Temple, which is the only outcrop of the relatively flat area of the city. The temple has 344 steps and contains inscriptions that date back to 3rd century B.C. The hillock of Rock Fort itself is believed to be older than the Himalayas. Uchipillaiyar Koil temple on top of the hillock is dedicated to Lord Vinayak wherefrom you can enjoy a kaleidoscopic view of Trichy during Trichy travel. After completing our sightseeing of the Rock Fort, we will proceed to Srirangam, which is a pilgrimage site and is 7 km from Trichy. The main Vishnu Temple of Srirangam is dedicated to Lord Vishnu, whose ivory sculptures are engraved on the walls of the temple. Annual festivals viz. Vaikunda, Ekadasi and car festival are held every year in the temple. After lunch, we shall pay visit to the nearby Shiva Temple, which is known for its lofty gopurams, ornate mandapams and is spread over 18 acres. These are some famous tourist places in Trichy and must visit.

Day 03: Tourist Places in Trichy (continued)

On third day of our Trichy tours, we will visit the Church of Our Lady of Lourd after breakfast. The 100 years old church is built in gothic architectural style and lies within St. Joseph's College complex. Its 200 ft tall spire could be seen even from a distance of 8 km. Natharvalli Dargah is equally revered by Muslims, Hindus and Christians. Urs is celebrated here on a grand scale when devotees pay obeisance to Baba Natharvalli and seek his graceful blessings during Kanduri festival. After lunch, we will visit Trichy Museum, which is located in Rani Mangammal Mahal near Super Bazaar. The museum houses pre-historic tools, mould of metals, leaf manuscripts, skeletons of animals and sculptures of Buddha, Mahavira and Vishnu. We will return back to hotel room at night for dinner.
