The Gulf of Mannar Marine National Park is spread over an area of 10,500 sq km. Marine national park is located 150 km from Madurai, on the borders of Tuticorin and Ramanathapuram districts of Tamil Nadu. The marine biosphere reserve is rich in tropical flora and fauna, and is famous for its coral reefs, dolphins, dugongs, turtles and balano-glossus. It encompasses a group of 21 islands and continuous stretches of coral reef. Gulf of Mannar Marine National Park is a delight for marine life enthusiasts and nature lovers. We have two days long itinerary in place for you to acquaint you with rich marine life of the region.
Day 01: Arrival in Madurai
On your arrival at Madurai airport, you will driven to Gulf of Mannar Marine National Park near Mandapam and lodged in your hotel room by our staff, Marine national park is located at a distance of 150 from the Madurai airport. Our staff will brief you about your next day's itinerary and the precautions that you will be required to take during your trip to Marine national park. Rest of the day is yours. Day 02: Visit to Gulf of Mannar Marine National Park
We will start exploration of the marine park just after the breakfast at 09.30 am in the morning. Marine National Park has more than 3,600 species of marine life and plants. The geographical location of the park makes it an ideal place for the expansion of coral reef, which is also referred as Underwater Tropical Rain Forest by many wildlife lovers. Many islands of the park like Mandapam and Kurasadai have vast expanses of shallow seawater bodies, which are home to a variety of dolphins, turtles, sea snakes, fishes etc. Importance of the park could be guessed from the fact that livelihood of around 140 villages and town people depend on the rich fisheries resources of the park. You will be allowed to explore the park in speed boat, motor boat or yacht till the day end. Do not forget to record some amazing videos and images with exotic marine animal species.
