The Crocodile Bank is a reptile zoo and reputed herpetology research station. It was founded in 1976 by renowned naturalist Romulus Whitaker. The Bank is located 40 km away from Chennai city, on the east coast road alongside the Bay of Bengal. The Bank is officially known as the Madras Crocodile Bank Trust and is also managed by the trust.
You will be welcomed by our representatives on arrival at Chennai airport / railway station and moved to your hotel accommodation. Just relax and refresh. Rest of the day is yours and you can visit the local bazaars of the city in the evening and do some shopping. Have dinner in the night and enjoy a sound sleep.
You will be moved to the Crocodile Bank in our AC van / bus after breakfast in the morning. Crocodile Bank in Tamilnadu is home to more than 5000 crocodiles that belong to different species and genera. Some prominent varieties of the crocodile that breed and roam careless here include mugger crocodile, salt water crocodile, gharials and African alligators. Crocodile Bank has 12 species of turtles & tortoises, and several species of snakes like King Cobra, Monitor Lizards, pythons etc. Do not forget to record the full video of professional herpetologists extracting venom from the mouths of snakes before the viewers. Enjoy the sightseeing of the crocodiles laying eggs, playing with their young ones and hunting for fishes. Take care to view all this from a safe distance as crocodiles are very muscular reptiles. Return back to your hotel room in the night and take morning flight back to your home town.
